iiDA CHOI
최이다는 서울을 기반으로 영화와 미술의 장을 가로지르며 활동하는 창작자다. 자명하고 익숙하게 다가오지만 그 의미를 쉽게 규정하기 어려운 현실의 감각을 탐구하는 방법으로 영상과 서사를 이용한다.
서울대학교에서 미술과 철학을 공부한 뒤, 한국예술종합학교 대학원에서 영화 연출을 전공했다. 현재는 영상 작업을 중심으로 영화, 미술, 기획 등 다양한 영역에서 활동을 이어가고 있다.
‘이다’라는 이름은 한국어 서술격 조사 ‘-이다’에서 따온 것이다. 이 서술격 조사는 무언가가 있다는 것 외에 아무것도 의미하지 않는다.
iida Choi is a Seoul-based artist whose practice navigates the boundaries between film and fine art. As a way of engaging with sensations of reality that appear self-evident and familiar yet remain difficult to clearly define, she works with moving images and narrative.
After studying Fine Arts and Philosophy at Seoul National University, she earned her MFA in Filmmaking at the Korea National University of Arts. Her practice currently centers on video-based works, extending across film, contemporary art, and curation.
The name “iida” is derived from the Korean copular particle “이다,” which signifies nothing beyond the fact that something exists.
